Patrik Antonius was born on December 13, 1980 in Helsinki, Finland. He is known by the nicknames "Adonis", "The Flying Finn" and "The Lion", and he holds one European Poker Tour (EPT) title.

Before playing poker professionally, Antonius used to play and coach tennis. He even worked as a model in Vantaa, Finland. The world of poker started taking notice of Antonius when he finished 12th at the WPT PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and then two months afterwards, 15th at the Bay 101 Shooting Stars tournament in 2005, both times almost making it to the final table.

In 2005, he made it to the EPT Main Event final table, but finished only 3rd. It was only a month later that Antonius won his EPT event to take home $343,366. That was a terrific year for Antonius, as he also finished second the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic that was held in December and won $1,046,470.

In 2006, he finished the WSOP $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event in 9th place and took home another $205,920, which was also his biggest cash amount in tournaments that year.

In 2007, Antonius cashed again as he finished the WSOP World Championship of Pot Limit Omaha event in 3rd place and took home $311,394. He has also made appearances on GSN's High Stakes Poker and on three shows of NBC's Poker After Dark, where he won in one show and finished second in the other two. As of 2008, Antonius has won over $2,800,000 in live tournaments only. He also plays the high cash tournaments online and in 2008 he came in second in the Full Tilt Poker $25,000 buy-in Heads-Up Pot Limit Omaha Championship to take home $320,000.

Antonius is known to be a specialist when it comes to heads-up poker play. He often plays online and has made millions in online cash games and tournaments. Before becoming a member of Team Full Tilt, Antonius used to play at the site under the nicknames "Luigi66369", "CryMeRiver9" and "Finddagrind", but after joining Team Full Tilt he plays under his own name. He also plays on a regular basis in high stake cash games at the Bellagio.

There are more interesting facts you might not know about Antonius. He had to wear a bathrobe to a WPT event because he lost a bet to Roland De Wolfe. Interesting to say, the bet was not poker-related but whether the orange juice at the Bellagio is freshly squeezed or not. One night he suffered one of his biggest loses playing online, as he lost $400,000. He works out and takes vitamins on a daily basis, he taught himself how to play Texas Hold'em, he has a daughter called Mila and he currently lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
